Grand slam try in seven hearts on tricky club cue bid
In Easley Blackwood’s ACBL Bulletin hand South reaches seven hearts without Blackwood, cue bids four diamonds to show ace and king. South ruffs spade lead, draws trumps, clears diamonds, and uses a ruffing finesse to set up a last diamond. A 4-2 diamond break would defeat the grand, but 3-4 break occurs 68 percent of the time. Colorado reader asks for four hearts redoubled with three overtricks, worth 2,230 points: 1,200 overtricks, 50 contract, 900 rubber, 400 below the line. rubber scoring may differ.
