Dwight resident Dorothy Matulka was hospitalized after a single vehicle crash on wet pavement about 0.3 miles southeast of Dwight on Highway 15. She suffered broken ribs and bruises. the car sustained extensive damage.

In Bremont Nebraska AP Susan Stendrickson an 18 year old from Shickley was crowned the 1974 Pork Queen. She is daughter of Maurice Hendrickson and a University of Nebraska home economics freshman. First runner up Rhona Rogers of Ord and second Audrey Lentner of Bruning. Delmar Gerdes of Wyte won the Nebraska Park All American Award.
