Scholarship winners for Platte College 1970 71

The area youths earned Platte College scholarships for the 1970 71 school year with sponsors listed under the photos. Tim McDonald, Columbus High graduate, lacked a photo and was sponsored by Boulevard Lanes while other patrons included Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kallenbach hosting a birthday supper for their son Tink with Clinton Kallenbach Clinton and Glenn, Mrs. Cora Baer of Columbus, and Lorar From in attendance.

Ravenna Youth Killed in Bike Car Crash

A Ravenna youth identified as Gary Christensen, about 19, died Tuesday evening one mile south of town after his bicycle was struck by a car driven by 43-year-old Dale Gill Ming of Crawford. Police said the cyclist appeared to swerve into the vehicle path.

Condon plans direct action after attack in Van Nuys

Republican candidate Dick Condon, seeking the 22nd state Senate seat, said voters are fed up with politicians who “sit around on their rear ends.” He disclosed he will be unable to campaign for about ten to fourteen days after being bitten and treated for inner wounds at Valley Doctors Hospital following an attack by two large dogs during a door to door campaign.

Al Bogatch Dies After Heart Attack at Grauman's Theatre

Hollywood. Al Bogatch, longtime manager of the Grauman's Chinese Theater, collapsed and died Wednesday from an apparent heart attack. He had led the theater since October 14 and worked with National General Corp, owners of the venue, since 1949. He was known for directing ceremonies featuring stars imprinting their footprints in cement in the showroom courtyard.

Two Council Bluffs men sentenced in auto theft case

Two Council Bluffs men, Michael Rhoades aged 20 and Eddie Boner aged 18, were sentenced at Gage County Court to prison terms for auto theft. A Beatrice car owned by Edward Lang was reported stolen January 2 with a patrol stop later that night. Drug possession charges were dismissed by County Attorney Ken Mahlin.
