Mealy 200000 checks drawn on 374 eastern Nebraska banks are being cleared weekly at the Omaha Bios under the Omaha regional check processing arrangement. Officials expect volume to rise to about 250000 items each night as the Federal Reserve facility handles about 1000000 dollars daily. The area covers eastern Nebraska within roughly 60 miles of Omaha and extends to Grand Island Wayne Norfolk Columbus York Beatrice and Falls City.

Dale Johnson named Nebraska Division marketing and utilities engineering manager for the 54 community area served by Cengas. He will work from Columbus division headquarters. Johnson, a World War I veteran from Wausa, holds an Iowa State University engineering degree and is a Nebraska-registered professional engineer. He joins from Wisconsin Public Service where he served seven years as vice president and assistant general manager at Lake Geneva.
