At the Eastern Nebraska Beef Cattle Testing Station Field Day and Sale of performance tested animals near Schuyler the top selling Angus bull was bought by Sedlacek Farms Inc. for $1 025 after a 3 78 lb daily gain. Flynn bulls led entries with strong averages across several breeds and buyers from Iowa Manitoba and Nebraska.

Funeral services held today for Walter A Nelson

Funeral services for Walter A. Nelson 78 of Newman Grove were conducted at Zion Lutheran Church with Myron Nelson Lester Nelson George NeElsurde Reuben Johnson Albert and Lawrence Samuelson as pallbearers. Burial followed at Hap e Cemetery. He was born March 10 1892 in Boone County to Gustav and Mrs Nelson and married Hazelle Johnson in 19 19. He left a daughter Mrs Merlis Evelynt Larsen of Columbus a son Raymond of Newman Grove eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He also had two brothers Emil of Newman Grove and Willie of Madison. His wife died October 8 1967 a daughter Mrs Malond Benson on December 0 1952 and his parents and five brothers preceded him.

Spalding Man Calls For Dances At Leigh Opera House

Leigh Jubilee Squares danced to Hank Herlie of Spalding at the Leigh Opera House Tuesday with Lyle Crosier of St Edward also calling. Mr and Mrs Leonard Prokopec of Clarkson served on the coffee committee.

ESU No 7 hosts 12 hour L P workshop for teachers

Education Service Unit No 7 completed sponsorship of a production workshop aiding teachers in writing individual learning packages. Sister Hita Gaul directed with 34 teachers attending the 12 hour sessions and plans to establish a local LLP bank. A separate International Reading Association Council meeting drew about 40 at the KSU 7 office with a steering committee elected.

Leigh Seniors Sneak Day Sends Class to Omaha

Leigh high school seniors spent Wednesday on a trip to Omaha. They toured the Underground Market and Henry Doorly Zoo before lunch and watched the show Paint Your Wagon in the afternoon. Sponsors Thomas Barrett and Larry Meier accompanied them along with parents Lavern Asche, Dallas Sander, and others.

Towns gain chance to attract young physicians in Nebraska

Forty four Nebraska communities will host a two day program May 7 and 8 to link medical students and residents with small towns. Albion Brainard Central City Howells and Humphrey are among invited towns to showcase housing, churches, facilities and local resources. A family practice physician will reside during the event, with exhibits and talks at St Joseph Hospital and University Hospital cafeteria.

Daughter honors parents at coffee event

Leigh-Bene Rene Vercruysse of Herman hosted a Sunday coffee honoring her parents Art and Vercruysse on their 25th wedding anniversary. Local attendees included Mrs. Guy Brown and Merle Brown family. A Fremont dinner honored the couple midweek. The Vercruysses married in Omaha in 1945 and reside in Herman with two children.
