An official says about 500 Creighton University students lose campus part-time jobs as federal work-study programs end. The financial aid coordinator states many will have less money for incidentals but most likely will not drop out. Jobs terminated for the rest of the year ending in June.

Lincoln Neb. State Tax Commissioner William Peters said he is considering rejecting corn as real estate tax reappraisals in Holt and Boone counties. He cited lack of uniformity and assessment value concerns. Hearings occurred last year on reappraisals by Tax Equity Inc. of Kansas City Mo. This would be the first outright rejection since the sequential reappraisal requirement began in the mid-1960s.

In Washington the $2.0 billion vocational rehabilitation bill faces a veto override fight next week. Nixon vetoed last year’s measure and argues excessive spending risks tax hikes. supporters say the bill is cost effective and trimmed by $881 million from 1972. Senate leadership seeks a two thirds override.
National Young Republican officials announced Nebraska will receive two national awards for membership. Don Sundquist, national chairman, said Nebraska earned top honors for recruiting the most new members and most new clubs. Art Blackroan, Lancaster County YA chair, and State Sen. Gerald Stromer, state YT chair, will accept the awards in Washington Saturday during the Young Republican Leadership Conference. Sundquist will attend the Nebraska YA convention in Omaha April 6-8.
CIO President Meany told the Senate Banking Committee that big wage settlements hinge on lowering food costs. He said workers will sacrifice but inflation, spurred by higher supermarket bills, pressures 47 million workers in key industries toward sizable settlements. He backed possible price freezes under administration controls.
Citizens for Survival announced a settlement with OPPD and the AEC on several safety and waste issues at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear plant along the Missouri River Nebraska. The group will monitor steam line breaks and fuel shrinkage while agreeing not to oppose loading up to 20 percent capacity.

DOMATIA Neb AP The Nebraska-Surpsist Slate Cone vention is developing a 60-acre camp near Lingooit for Black Baptists. Rev. William Blake, president of the new Black Nebraska Baptist Convention, said the facility fills a crucial need for Black youth. The Nebraska State Baptist Convention, part of the American Baptist Churches, plans $250 000 for the first phase this year.
