Israeli Artillery Hits Egyptian Ammo Dump in Suez Zone

United Press International reports Israeli artillery struck an Egyptian ammunition dump in the southern Suez Canal zone Friday night, with flames visible. An Israeli spokesman said the shelling was in retaliation for Egyptian fire, while a Jordanian-Israeli clash north of the Dead Sea left a guerrilla dead. A PFLP station in Beirut claimed Palestinian resistance pressured Jordan and Jordanian leaders visited troops. Libyan leaders gathered in Tripoli to discuss the Middle East amid celebrations at Wheelus AB.

Grants and loans announced by HUD agency

The Department of Housing and Urban Development Friday announced a series of grants and loans. Nebraska receives 144,193 for statewide planning assistance and the Omaha Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency gets 431,822 for planning in Sarpy and Douglas counties in Nebraska and Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Ordinance No 116 levies assessments on land in Water Extension District No 7 and Sanitary Sewer Districts Nos 3 and 15 to cover construction costs. The mayor and council conducted a board of equalization on June 37 1970, hearings held, and costs allocated: Water extension total $43 845 45 with owners $27 100 14 and city $16 736 28. Sanitary districts total $31 317 68 with owners $23 878 81 and city $7 036 37.

Soviet cosmonauts complete 18 day space flight checks

After nearly 18 days in weightlessness on Soyuz 9, cosmonauts Andrian Nikolayev and Vitaly Sevastianov underwent extensive medical exams. They were paler and thinner but adapting to Earth. Sevastianov joked about still feeling in a centrifuge and heavy on landing. The mission, lasting 16 hours 59 minutes longer than prior US records, advances orbital station concepts.

Lincoln fire may be arson at Senate Cafe

Lincoln fire officials say a fire at the Senate Cafe last week could be arson. A beer can with petroleum residue was found in the burned area and sent for testing. Three-Car Collision Injures Albion Woman

An 18 year old Albion woman suffered whiplash in a three car crash Friday afternoon at 23rd Street and 26th Avenue. Deana B Wheeler of Albion, Dennis L White of Genoa, and Clifford Bd Schroeder of 1611 nd Street were involved. Wheeler was treated at Behlen Memorial Hospital. Wheeler’s car was totaled. White’s sustained 2600 damage to Schroeder’s auto. Friday evening at the drive in, Susan FP McAuliff of 2309 16th Street and Lyle A Wembhoil of Humphrey collided with about 650 damage.
