Beermann hears complaint over private detective license
Beermann convenes at a hearing on Nebraska’s detective licensing law of 1959. The complaint names William Patrick Ward of Lincoln, accused of recording conversations in the Soukup residence while Ward worked for Lincoln official Diane Soukup, director of the Nebraska Commission on Aging. The hearing may yield dismissal, reprimand, suspension, or license revocation when licenses renew. A listening device Ward testified to placing in the Soukup home is discussed as evidence. Former Gov. Robert Crosby represents Ward. Ward denies hiring a Lincoln woman for surveillance and asserts scrupulous conduct in his work for Soukup. Mrs Soukup testified of a past divorce-related pursuit by someone else.
