Experiment on artificial northern pike spawning marshes
SANCOLN UPI The State Game Commission is conducting an experiment on artificial northern pike spawning marshes at three Salt Valley reservoirs to boost eastern Nebraska stocks. About 22,000 fingerlings were released into Conestoga, Olive Creek, and Stagecoach reservoirs, produced in hatcheries. The study compares their survival with hatchery fish from Bleestein Lake to assess if marsh spawning offers a viable alternative in waters lacking weedy spawning areas.
