Refugees wait in heat at Fort Chaffee base Arkansas
At Fort Chaffee Arkansas about 24000 Vietnamese refugees endure stifling heat and long waiting periods as they await sponsors. Boredom and routine mark days with English lessons, YMCA centers, and sporadic demonstrations over sponsorship delays while some move toward new lives. A few refugees, including Nguyen Dinh Son, secure legal help for cases awaiting U.S. court action.
