Five Platte County Farm Families to Receive Pioneer Award

Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award honors five long standing Platte County families at the county fair with plaques and certificates. Pat Nixon Reports Progress After Stroke Recovery

Pat Nixon, 63, is past the critical stage of a paralyzing stroke and stabilizing. Dr. John Lungren notes improved speech and controlled blood pressure, with left side weakness gradually easing and a three to four month recovery expected with rehabilitation at Long Beach Memorial Hospital.

Three Die in Nebraska Traffic Crashes This Weekend

Three persons, including Bernard Kastl age 20 and Bruce Terral age 18, died in Nebraska accidents. Kastl was a passenger when a pickup left the road near Valparaiso. Markworth, 26, reportedly lost control on a curve. Zywiec, 16, was killed when his motorcycle struck a deer near Fullerton.
