State Fair Bound 4-H Clubs Win Top Ribbons
Three 4-H clubs earned purple ribbons at the Platte County Song Contest and two were chosen to advance to the state fair. Winners include Swinging 70s and Sunny Lemons with purple, Cloverettes and Magic Mixers with blue, and Kotton Kitties with purple. A drill team sponsored by Kloverettes and Swinging 70s also won purple.

Anniversary of Fr. Micek celebrated at St. Boniface Church
The Rev. Sylvester Micek O F M pastor of St. Boniface Church Sioux City Iowa marks 25th anniversary as a priest at a 12 noon Mass Sunday July 11 at St. Anthony Church. The homily is by Rev. Armand Lubanski former St. Anthony pastor. Fr. Micek born January 25 1927 is son of Barney L and Dora Micek with several siblings. He studied in Illinois and Ohio and was ordained June 24 1951 by Bishop William A O Connor. He has served in Petoskey Michigan Madison Illinois and other postings prior to his current role.
