In Los Angeles, a Superior Court judge appointed a plea of innocent for Charles Manson despite his shouted objections. Manson protested grand jury procedures and the indictment while the judge interrupted his remarks during proceedings into the Tate LaBianca murders.
Major Leslie J. Bartlett, husband of Fab Warner of Albion Nebraska, completed five month Defense Department program at Norfolk under Joint Chiefs of Staff. He holds senior pilot rating and has served in Korea and with the Navy before joining the Air Force. He is a Thornton Township High School 1958 graduate and earned a history BA in 1964 from the University of Nebraska.
Dr. Dale Flowerday outlined Colombia agricultural practices during a Colfax County Extension Service and Soil and Water Conservation District meeting. New board members Reynold Masing and Ted Elbracht joined, with offices naming Adolph Loseke and Mrs. William Bevan. Certificates of service and recognition were awarded to long-time contributors, and Bevan will work on nutrition education. County farms cooperating reached 746 by year end 1989, with 32 farms seeking District assistance for practices.
The Seventh Avenue Club gathered at the home of Mrs Milton Anderson in Stromsburg. About 100 people attended the event. Mr and Mrs Buddy Totine, moving to Tempe Arizona, were honored at a reception in the Lutheran Church parlors. Also noted, Indiana's total area is 36221 square miles.

Bernard Holmes of Albion received a special achievement award as an outstanding club secretary at the Mid Central Conference of Kiwanis Clubs in Omaha Nebraska Town. The gathering included Arnold Norskoy as president Lloyd Young Yoo Wilson and Norman Smit. The program covered drug problems. Fire Chief Bob Spiegel was introduced at the club meeting. A film titled The Noble Breed showcased heroic firemen.
Verlyn Krumland elected president and Norbert Folks named vice president at the Silver Spur Saddle Club monthly meeting in Platte Center. Darlene Laudenklos named secretary treasurer. Harold Laudenklos Ralph Furhy Bob Smeltzer and Mrs.Ed Sokol join board. Upcoming events include July horse show and Sept rodeo with monthly meetings set for the second Sunday. Nevada authorized lethal gas executions in 1921.
The T. EDWARD The B-What U-R Club gathered at Mrs. Vera Siedlyk’s residence with ten members and four guests. Ten point pitch was played. high score went to Mrs. Carma Dickenson, low to Mrs. Francis Sawyer, and guest prize to Mrs. Tim Reardon. The hostess served a dessert.
The Platte County Clerk Carl J. Hoge certifies a total of 4 807 78 dollars in unpaid claims against Flatle County as of December 15, 1869, with a broader state reference of 80 878 93 dollars for Nebraska.
