Attendees will gather Wednesday January 28 at Columbus City Auditorium for Area Swine Day. Program begins at 0 aim with topics on oxidation ditches waste, value of cooking raw soybeans, hot pork processing, and hog cholera, plus a producer sharing his plan. Colfax County Extension Service and Colfax Soil & Water Conservation District announce a joint annual meeting at the IA rural school 118 miles north of Schuyler on Highway 15. Dr Dale Flowerday of the University of Nebraska will discuss Colombia agriculture with a slide show. Lubbock Swine Breeders manager Buel Liner will speak at Area Swine Pays events in Columbus and Laurel. The meeting will review 1969 results, elect two Extension Board members, and recognize conservation efforts by local farms and districts.

The number of laying hens increased 1 percent to 4,980,000, with eggs laid per hundred hens up 4 percent to 1,258. CONCORD UP I Nebraska Park Producers Council awarded the Northeast Experiment Station a $1000 grant for swine housing research. A 1969 grant funded an office utility building. this year the funds will support portable sowing and finishing of swine housing systems.
The Nebraska Feed and Nutrition Conference will be held February 24 in Lincoln to address livestock feeds and feeding. Out of state experts William Buck of Iowa State University and Dr W M Beeson of Purdue University will speak on toxicity in animal feeding and full fat soybeans in livestock feeding. Nebraska staff will cover wheat millet milo use in swine and cattle, amino acids in ruminant feeding and turkey nutrition as the program emphasizes quality, quantity, variety, and value of feeds with panel discussions.
