Inflation cools to 4.8 percent in 1976 year end
The Labor Department reports December prices up 0.4 percent and a 4.8 percent rise for 1976, the lowest year end inflation in four years. Economists expect little further improvement in inflation beyond 1976.

Platte road plans okayed by county supervisors
Public hearing drew a couple dozen Platte County residents as the Board of Supervisors and Highway Superintendent Darwin Anderson reviewed the one year and six year road plans. The mile between Sections 22 and 23 would join the county system but hard surfacing awaits cost estimates. A Columbus Township delegation pressed the inclusion of the road near Highway 30 and Eighth Street Road west of the Loup canal. The City of Columbus Hall of Justice lease talks failed to gain full approval and will be revisited next meeting. Inflation cooled in 1976 with 0.1 percent rise in real spendable income and 174.3 CPI, while food prices and medical services drove the slowdown.

Pla-Co Banquet Honors Pork Producers and Dignitaries
