The Columbus Nebraska Job Service office reports 742 active applicants at year start, down from 877 a year earlier. December saw 162 new applications, including 28 veterans and 54 women, with 81 employers listing 134 openings. 411 referrals and 97 placements occurred, major demand in manufacturing, with outreach to Osceola David City Schuyler Welfare Offices and daily radio samples at 10:35 a.m. and 11:47 a.m.
