Morris enters Navy recruit training in San Diego

Martin Morris son of Mr and Mrs Don Morris has joined the Navy and departed for recruit training at the San Diego center. He enrolled as a seafarer airman near prograny and will spend nine weeks followed by two weeks in fireman apprentice training after graduating Columbus High School. Enlisted by local recruiter Lyle Miller at 2772 1th Street Columbus.

Cold slows growth of 1975 winter wheat in many states

The Agriculture Department reported that cold weather slowed growth of the 1975 winter wheat crop in the Southern Great Plains and West. Kansas showed some moisture, but central areas remained dry. Colorado and Wyoming faced moisture shortages. Livestock conditions varied, with cattle in Oklahoma fading due to high feed costs and reduced supplementation.

Eagle Scout Award Given to Schuyler Youth

Survivors Rescued After Cascade Crash Near Seattle

Two survivors, Mrs. Marilyn Foos and pilot Gregory Bennett, endured five hours in wreckage and fifty hours of rescue efforts after a twin-engine Cessna crash in the Cascade foothills southeast of Seattle. Foos and Bennett were hospitalized in serious but stable condition with multiple injuries, while the bodies of Foos’s husband Paul and two others were recovered. The crash occurred during a storm en route from central Washington to Seattle, and rescue teams faced brutal weather and terrain before locating the site.

Bover wins in VFW contest in Albion
