Technical College board seeks policy over funding control
Lincoln Nebraska AP The state Technical Community Colleges Board passed a resolution urging the legislature to leave policy decisions to the board amid plans to cut funding and tuition waivers. Executive secretary Dr Robert Schleiger noted the Appropriations Committee proposed eliminating all tuition waivers within two years and stressed the system relies on 40 percent state funds and 60 percent local. The board approved a policy to cap tuition waivers at 0 10 percent of prior year waivers for Nebraska residents and require 60 percent for non athletic programs with no board and room waivers after July 1, 1974. Board members warned the 1974 75 budget may be inadequate due to rising demand and enrollments.
