Washington humorist Dick West suggests a bus schooling plan to cut costs and curb discipline problems. He argues students would stay in groups on buses, reducing vandalism and outside influence while noting initial coordination challenges. He envisions fewer dropouts as a key benefit.
FBI and state authorities wrestle with the complex marital status of Dr. Darrell R. Shipley 87 who died when his private plane crashed near Walnut Check Erie County. He lived with Mrs. Bobbie Sue Shipley and four children in Clarksville Tennessee while reportedly going to Erie to be with his wife Joanne Shipley and their three children. Court records show previous marriages and possible remarriage, with uncertainty about surviving spouse. FAA records note Shipley filed flight plans for Erie about once a month and he flew frequently to Texas.
Orville Dodds was chosen chairman of Stromsburg Enterprises board of directors at a Tuesday business meeting. Don Nordberg was named vice chairman Carleton Anderson secretary and Warren Johnson treasurer. Other directors include Albertus Larson Paul Morre Carl Westring and Vaydien.

LINCOLN UP Rep Adan Powell spoke at the University of Nebraska denouncing the Nixon administration for inflation policy and cuts in education health and welfare funding He criticized a proposed 2 billion annual missile program saying the ABM is untested Powell framed black empowerment as a moral revolution and militant but proud.
Military sources report Pathet Lao and North Vietnamese forces pressing toward the government air field near Vientiane as U S air power resists. Guerrillas attacked at night, US fighters and helicopters aided government troops, and a sizeable convoy was destroyed. Estimates place about 12,000 North Vietnamese troops in the five day offensive.
Two Columbus area students were elected to Wayne State College Student Union Board. Ginger Taylor of Albion is secretary and Julie Wright of Genoa is social committee chairman. Dwight Evgeland, Qanada, heads the board, directing most major college social and recreational events.
The Silver Creek St. Lawrence Church Altar Society, led by President Mrs. John Swertaie, met in the rectory hall basement. Parish chairman Mrs. Robert Smith reported on a deanery board meeting at St. Edward, and Fr. Mitera explained Mass revisions effective Palm Sunday.
Reavemer Baptist Church of Columbus hosts a church school workshop on March 22-23 open to all. Rev Bruce Stirk, general secretary of the Department of Christian Education of the North American Baptist General Conference, Forest Park NW, directs. He has served several churches and will lead Sunday evening at 7:44 with The Clan and its Works. Monday to Wednesday features Vital Problems in Christian loving in two one hour sessions each night.
Prof James R Howes of Texas A&M will speak on Environmental Balance and Pollution at Nebraska meetings sponsored by the Food Farming & Wildlife Association. Meetings on February 26 and 27 at Hastings, Grand Island, Kearney, and Cornd High School. He is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemists and advisor to the Prebtfer Foundation. His research covers environmental effects on nutrition, metabolism, and animal heat tolerance.
Mrs Fox Sr entertained at three tables of bridge for the ABC Club at Albion County Club. Guests included Mrs WL Walling who won the first prize for club members and Mr Laura McKnight who took the guest prize. Other attendees were Mrs C Krause, Mrs Dean Lehr, Mrs John Coffey, Mrs A Suchanek, and Mrs L J Fox Jr.
Washington reports Rep. Martin says Nebraska Veterans Administration hospitals lack staff and divert funds to cover salaries. Committees cite over 230000 for Omaha, 184000 for Lincoln, and 81000 for Grand Island beds. Calls grow for two staff per patient and more physicians at an annual $2.3 million.
Lincoln report states Daniel G. Wola resigned from the Noly Coup of Industria Relations. He had been named to the panel in G7 as Governor Norbert Timming's first appointment to the court.
