Three Juveniles Admit Burglaries in Columbus Area

Space Shuttle flies on jumbo jet during captive flight tests
Edwards AFB California reports the 75 ton Space Shuttle mated to a Boeing 747 undertook a two hour captive flight over the Southern California desert as part of a year long program. A four man crew rode the jumbo while the shuttle remained uncrewed and its controls inoperative. Six tests are planned with altitude aims to 25 000 feet before five captive active tests with pilots aboard. Free flight tests begin July 22 with explosive bolts to peel the shuttle away from the 747.
