Ex-Creston resident Emma Langhoff dies in Schuyler
Funeral services for former Creston resident Emma Langhoff were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. She died at a Schuyler hospital after a storm-related illness. Born December 12, 1887 in Illinois, she married John Langhoff February 7, 1907 in Polk County. They moved to Creston in 1908, lived there until 1957, then moved to Fremont. Survivors include son Flwin W. Langhoff of McCook, daughters Thelma Knight of Fremont, Wilma Salak of Schuyler, Mabel Roberts of Omaha, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two brothers William Bachman of California and Carl Bachiman of Kresent. burial at Memorial Cemetery, Fremont.

Osborne named Nebraska football coach in 1973
The University of Nebraska board of regents approved Thomas W. Osborne as head football coach effective Jan 2 1973. Osborne will replace Bob Devaney who will retire as head coach but stay as athletic director. The regents also awarded a 687000 contract to Walter J Broer Construction for a south end expansion at Memorial Stadium Lincoln raising capacity to about 76000. They moved the Pharmacy and Graduate School facilities, studied engineering, and discussed union representation for UNO faculty with possible secret-ballot election. A permanent dean is planned to oversee an administrative reorganization for the Omaha Lincoln campuses.
