Saigon AP reports the U S Command closes weekly casualty totals listing 43,941 American service members killed in action in Indochina from Jan 1, 1961 to the official cease fire start. Wounded total 30,635. missing or interned 1,861. Non hostile deaths 10,303. Last week four killed in action three nonhostile deaths 13 wounded four missing or vaporized.

Jailed on charge of attempting death by own action

A rural Council Bluffs man, John F. Ball, 27, is jailed on a charge of attempting death by own action that allegedly interfered with the administration of justice. Ball faces municipal court felony charges for beating his wife Cynthia and their son Derrick, and a passerby found him in a car with a hose from the tailpipe to the interior. He was conscious when deputies arrived and treated at Edmundson Hospital.

Nixon Sees Great Year Ahead Despite Inflation Fears

President Nixon expressed confidence in taming economic problems and predicted a "very good year" or even a great year, while warning inflation could challenge his plans.
