Nebraska law counsel urges splitting gas tax and road transfer bills
Lincoln Nebraska Attorney General Office urged separating the proposed gas tax hike from road transfers to counties for it to pass constitutional review. Assistant A G Lichty cited doubt about a combined bill and noted the need to split to avoid constitutional questions. State roads director Doyle called the idea a political tactic while supporting simultaneous consideration of both topics. Maresh expects lawmakers to follow the opinion and divide the measure in 1977.
