Platte County Board Sets Salaries for Officials

The Platte County Board of Supervisors approved new salary scales for elected and appointed county officials with most increases effective in 1979. Key changes include county clerk, assessor, sheriff, superintendent of schools, clerk of district court, register of deeds, and treasurer rising from 10,800 to 14,000 with 800 annual boosts for three years. Dorothy Kyriss as election commissioner retains appointment at 8,700 with 400 yearly increases. others keep current or set later. The board kept supervisors’ salaries at 5,500 with no raises and set attorney at 18,000 with 500 yearly increases. veterans and probation officers pegged at budget time. They also opted not to join area agency on aging and noted a bank stabilization project visit and welfare department relocation on the second floor.

Warmer weather prevails with changing Nebraska forecast

A stationary front extended southeast through Wyoming and southwest Nebraska. Southerly winds brought warmth into Nebraska while a low pressure center in Wyoming moved east tonight bringing light snow or snow flurries. Snow fell in eastern and north central Nebraska with about one inch. Overnight lows ranged from zero at Charlton to 13 above at Lincoln. Winds southerly with gusts near 30 mph. tonight clouds and strong winds with colder temperatures expected.
