Platt County Lawsuits Seek 1.8 Million Over Newman Grove Crash
Twelve actions filed in Platte County District Court seek a total 1.8 million dollars in damages from David P. Wedekind, his father, B F Goodrich, and General Motors, brought by five motorcycle riders and their relatives. The incident occurred June 16 1975 on a county road near Newman Grove at about 10 PM. the motorcycle rider was westbound when the car crossed paths. Several plaintiffs suffered serious injuries including amputations of three legs.

Vessel sinks with 25 rescued after Gulf of Mexico sinking
A 311-foot freighter M V Melias sank in the Gulf of Mexico after taking on water near dawn. All 25 crew members were rescued by a Greek ship and later due to Coast Guard efforts. The Melias carried 4000 tons of bauxite bound for Tampico before sinking in 12 000-foot depths.

Man Crashes Gate at White House Blocked by Barrier
A black pickup rammed the northwest gate of the White House as a newly installed barrier stopped the assault. Steven B. Funeral services planned for Frank Dolezal of David City
David City records the death of Frank Dolezal 65 from injuries suffered in a pickup train crash Tuesday in David City. He drove a northbound pickup on Highway 15 and collided with an eastbound Union Pacific freight. He ran the Northside Truck Stop and Cafe.
