Young Swine Conference that bone weight length width and circumference along with ash content and breaking strength indicate an animal’s mineral nutrition. Electric charge may keep wells from crusting say Nebraska researchers
MINNEAPOLIS MINN A University of Nebraska engineer D M Edwards and former student C Mandat reported at the American Society of Agricultural Engineers meeting that applying a direct current to the water bearing layer could prevent mineral crusting and electrode clogging in wells. They showed lab results that charging the screen with a small negative charge crusted with minerals, then proposed switching to a positive charge to avoid deposition. The system could be powered by a DC generator only when the pump runs.
