Omaha power plant vows clean safe economical design

Omaha Public Power District engineers presented Fort Calhoun's 457,000 kilowatt nuclear plant as clean, safe, and economical. They outlined construction, economics, and environmental testing showing background radiation will not rise significantly and discharges will remain minor. The plant is built to meet AEC safety standards and withstand extreme weather, with fuel savings of about six million dollars yearly for seven years. Commercial operation is due in Fall 1972.

Improvement noted for Gail Smith after sar-plegg crash

Gail Smith, one of three survivors of a crash near Heilwexl two weeks ago, shows improvement at Behren Memourial Hospital. A physician says she is doing pretty good and the bindings are healing. Killed in the crash were Sheryl Anderson, Terry Nickolite and Darcy Jaster.
