In Huntsville Texas on a prison escape attempt by drug smuggler Tred Go tee Carrasco and Rudolf Domingues, two handcuffed female hostages died after gunfire and a collapsing Trojan Horse shield. Carrasco, Domingues, and associate Ignacio Cuevas died. officers freed eight other hostages.

In Rome today's leftist unions organized a nationwide strike after Sunday’s bombing of an express tram near Bologna that killed 12 and wounded 48, including two Americans from Wilmington Delaware and another from Pontia Krona gay alma. Police found alarm clock parts and TNT traces, with fascist groups blamed by unions amid a surge of terrorist acts in Italy. The blast damaged a passenger car as the train to Brenner passed through a Bologna Florence tunnel, scattering passengers and prompting calls for urgent arrests and political turmoil.

A young Vietnam trained sniper climbed a hilltop in Griffite Park, forced two rangers and a bystander into handcuffs, then surrendered to police after negotiations with psychiatrist Dr Neff. He had been wounded earlier, received psychiatric treatment, and expressed no wish to die or kill. No one was hurt.
