Jeffers Installed as Hartman Post 83 Legion Commander
Roy Jeffers, social studies teacher at Columbus Sediut High School, was installed as commander of Hartman Post 83 American Legion in Tuesday ceremonies. Other officers for 1972 73 include Irwin Mierau as first vice commander Jim Peters as second vice commander Darrell Baldwin as third vice commander Lew Johnson service officer Dick Walters finance officer Gik Cave and Willard Chaham on the executive board and Henry Graus Mike Zaslera as duky bear. Don Dion reappointed adjutant Allen Eggers new chaplain Commander Leo Vernoloski presided. Jeffers becomes 357th commander after serving as second and third vice commander and is the first Columbus school system commander since 1933. He is a Lincoln native, a Lincoln High School graduate, with a BS in Education and an MEd.

St Luke Church Centennial Service Led by Detwiler
Centennial observance at St Luke Church continues with a Sunday 10 a m service in the Evangelical and Reformed tradition. The Rev A Detwiler former minister will preach on Making Our Ancestors Our Contemporaries with portions in German. A reception follows and homecoming activities begin at 6 p m with the Gerutli United Church group. The event includes a pie social and community greetings from volunteers and visiting exchange participants from North Dakota.
