Israeli Ex-Soldier Surrenders After 16-Hour Jerusalem Siege
In Johannesburg a former Israeli soldier identified as David Protter surrendered after a 16 hour siege at the Israeli Consulate. Four people were killed and 42 injured, including two hostages and two bystanders. Richard R. Faltys, 21, of Schuyler, was killed when his car collided with a Union Pacific freight train at a crossing on Nebraska 45 in Schuyler. His body was thrown from the car and he died at Schuyler Memorial Hospital.
