Dworak Named Nebraska Delegate to Red Cross Conference

Don Dworak has received the appointment as Nebraska delegate to the American Red Cross National Conference to be held in May 2022 in Minneapolis Minnesota. He serves on the Platte County Board of Directors and is advisor for the American Red Cross Division serving counties in Nebraska Iowa and Kansas.

Nebraska Roads begins asphalt surfacing on Platte County road

The Nebraska Department of Roads announced asphalt concrete surfacing started this week on a Platte County road from Highway 2 about half a mile east of the Nance Platte line, running north 4.5 miles. WA Biba Engineering Company and Biba Company of Geneva hold a $205,112 contract funded by Platte County and federal highway funds. Project manager is E T Shotkoski of Columbus. work aims for completion in July with no detours.

SCOTTSBLUFF Neb AP An estimated 40 000 acres of sugar beets were planted by Thursday evening in the Great Western Sugar Company's Nebraska area Lan ard Henderson GW area agriculture director said planting is progressing well except in Lyman and Box Butte counties where wet fields delayed work Nebraska farmers have more than 61 000 acres under contract with GW this year and the total is expected to reach 62 000 acres

Lincoln Neb AP Dr Virginia Trotter University of Nebraska vice chancellor said Thursday she was very pleased with nomination as secretary of education in the Department of Health Education and Welfare. The President told her he was delighted to have a woman in such a high post and one of the highest ranking appointed women in Washington. She said she hopes to be judged on qualifications rather than gender.
