Nebraska Bill Tightens State Lease Controls
The Nebraska legislature passed LB359 by 46 to 0, sending it to the governor. It requires competitive bidding on state leases, designates the Department of Administrative Services as sole and final authority, and mandates written lease reports to the governor and Legislative Council. Leases must be open to inspection. The measure stems from the Jade Investment lease with the Labor Department and concerns over favoritism during the last gubernatorial campaign.
