Roskens named UNO chancellor in Lincoln Nebraska
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents named Ronald W. Roskens as chancellor of the Omaha campus. Roskens, then Kent State executive vice president, will take the post with a $50,000 salary and begin this summer. The move completes a campus leadership turnover and follows the resignation of Gene Budig to Illinois State University. Roskens will be officially designated chancellor designate during the interim. The board also approved financing for a University of Nebraska Lincoln fieldhouse and Memorial Stadium work, plus an ethnic studies institute at UNL.

Construction starts this week on Veterans Home in Grand Island
Construction to start this week on a 1.2 million addition to the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island adding 100 beds. Everett Phillips says G R Anderson Construction Co. of Omaha is the contractor. Regents approved a 21050 federal grant for identifying community service components and UNO UNL joint program. A draft regents report urged stronger committee structures. Grants totaling 817878 were approved for three NU campuses for research training and scholarships.
