Lieut Peary announces next year's Arctic voyage will seek the North Pole or die attempting. He plans to base at Sherard Osborne Fjord with Esquimaux support, buys a new ship if needed, and travels with a surgeon and one other white man.

In Ripley county, two men were moved from the North Vernon jail to Columbus to shield them from a mob. One admitted robbing an estate where he acted as administrator, valued at $1,300. The other faced assault charges involving his motherless 13 year old daughter and suspected links to the child’s death. Clarence Clem near Martinsville hosted friends Friday night for games and conversation. they departed after a pleasant evening with good wishes.
