A brief health update lists several residents with varying conditions. Ella Hollowell is very sick at Howard Duffy's home, while Mrs. Charles Reeves remains ill on Mechanic street. Other names like Mrs. Kissling, her son Henry, and Wm. Whitlatch are noted as still poorly, with some improvements for Mrs. Kellenberger of Orinoco and Mrs. Wm. Taylor on East Fifth street.
Joho W Joulins and Eiva Huffman secured marriage licenses as listed in the county clerk records with standard celebrant arrangements noted.
Brakeman Elmer Martin was badly injured in a railroad accident between this city and Greensburg on Monday night while making his run on the Big Four line.
John W. Johnes and Elva Huffman were married yesterday in a ceremony at the County Clerk’s Office. Justice Dennison officiated the vows in a brief civil service.
Bert Reynolds a former J M and L freight conductor and local resident resumes railroading after moving to Indianapolis he secures a position as conductor of a switching crew in the Monon yards.
Cadet Grant, a long respected Elizabethtown citizen, died Monday evening after months of illness. Funeral services are set for 2 o clock this afternoon under the Masonic order with interment at Section Cemetery.
Early Tuesday morning a back window was broken to gain entry at the Central saloon. About $10 in cash and two boxes of cigars were stolen, with $3 in nickels, $4 in dimes, 50 cents in half-dollars and $1.50 in quarters identified by the proprietors. The article blames delays in police on Washington street.
Frank Rowell of the Charles H. Moore Oil Company Cincinnati will arrive home late this week from a successful tour. He states the territory shows strong sales potential and the business outlook is good.
Levi Rowell the Columbus oil salesman left yesterday for a northern trip. He reports strong business as mills starch up, creating demand for his goods. Rowell believes prosperity is widespread in his territory.
Monday evening Frank Notting received a telegram from Hond-Du-Lac Wis stating Mrs Notting's father M. M. Menseh was dangerously ill. Mrs Notting could not leave at once but sister Mrs Henry Linsmith and daughter Miss Mollie left Tuesday morning on the 10:25 train for his bedside. Walter Neible went to Edinburg yesterday.
Mrs Will Wulfecutter of Cincinnati will travel from Seymour today to be guest of F Volland and family for the visit.
Pp. B. Ensley has completed a new addition to his Mechanic street residence. The Pennsylvania lines west of Pittsburg have recently hired many additional firemen and brakemen, improving crew availability.
Funeral services for Rev. Jacob M. Norton who died Saturday at his Norton sburg home were held Tuesday at the Clifford M E church conducted by Rev. Moore. The remains were buried in Garland Brook cemetery. Attending were John W Rider of Crothersville and W H Hosea of Underwood. Norton was remembered as a devout Christian gentleman with many friends.
The melon market was dull yesterday with just two loads on the square, reflecting a quiet trading day for growers and buyers.
The corn price rose two cents to 27 cents per bushel at Griffith elevator. Wheat stayed at 9 cents with speculation it may reach a hundred. A student, Fred Donner Jr., is expected home from Pennsylvania and will resume duties at Purdue next week.
The side rod on the engine of the Madison train broke about two miles north of the city, delaying the train briefly yesterday morning. Gay Ham, son of Mr and Mrs Alex Ham, returned home to enroll in local school duties after recently going to Hartsville for schooling. A contract was let yesterday for a fine brass mounted harness to be used on the Belvedere Hotel bus team, described as of the best material obtainable.

Prather, owner of the Cyclone saloon near the depot, tells Stair that thieves did not enter his establishment and nothing was disturbed.
A service water pipe in front of Mr. Taylor's residence on Fifth Street sprang a leak yesterday flooding the street. Water superintendent Cotton and Newt Hull repaired the damage at once.
A new diphtheria case appears in the city. The victim is a son of F. P. Smith on Third Street. The disease remains light this year with five cases currently in the city.
The Women's Missionary Society of the Christain church meets in the church parlor this afternoon at 2 o'clock. All members are requested to be present for the election of officers for the coming year.
Yesterday Wayland and Wells purchased the entire stock of Charlie Wells of Gothe Wells and Bour wholesale grocers of Indianapolis. The bill totaled about $1200.

Mrs James Verry fell from a chair while picking flowers Monday afternoon and fractured her arm in three places near the wrist elbow and shoulder. The flesh around the elbow was mashed and she was bruised but rest is comfortable with expectation of full recovery. John Bartlett traveled to Columbus Friday for street fair business. Miss Margaret Rush and Lawrence of Springfield Mo visited then returned home. Mrs Anna Schuman and her young daughter from New York City visited Mrs Cash Reynolds and then left Seymour with Reynolds accompanying them to that point.

The Furniture Workers Association organized about a year ago in this city to provide sick benefits and social elevation for members. It started with twelve charter members and grew to twenty five, with eligibility for all laborers over fifteen. Meeting weekly at the old Normal on Eleventh and Chestnut, dues are ten cents weekly and sick benefits total four dollars per week. Membership is rising by three to four new members each week.
Miss Newton who was reportedly abducted in Louisville turned up safe at the Brown Hotel where she slept after missing her train. Mr. and Mrs. Brown, longtime friends of the Newton family, drove her to the depot Monday and sent her home. The Star cited direct sources noting initial abduction reports were unfounded. Columbus baseball team passed through en route to Knightstown for games today and tomorrow. Miss Mate Furgeson returned home after a week with Miss Stella Thompson. Columbus youths prepare to enter higher schools next week.
