Physicians report Ed Shipman much improved yesterday morning after a back head wound and frontal fracture. They believe his condition will continue to improve as he is carefully attended and may fully recover.

Miss Nettie Crump and Dancter Crump left yesterday via the Big Four for a visit to Kansas City. They will also travel to Clay Center Topeka Independence Manhattan Leavenworth and other Kansas and Missouri cities. They expect to be away about six days.

Citizens along Chestnut between Eleventh and Twelfth petition the city council to pave with asphalt. Property owners favor paving and plan to present the request at tomorrows meeting. The area includes some of the citys finest homes and paving would enhance appearance.
George Clutch donated two rare relics to Crump War Museum in this city a breech load flint lock musket dated 1834 and a 13 pound James rifle ball. The musket was carried in the Mexican War and by Morgan's men during his raid. The museum will open in a room in the opera house with public access free of charge.

Charles Strausner a tinner suffered a severe forehead burn when molten solder flashed up during tin work. A fellow helper was burned on the neck. The incident occurred Monday afternoon. Also noted are lecture tickets at local shops and a City Band dance slated for Oct 14.

A blaze at the F M Stevens property at Ninth and Mechanic engulfed the barn and summer kitchen and damaged the rear of the house. Firefighters gained control in ten minutes after an alarm from box 35 as Mrs Stevens and family were away at Clifty Falls. The barn and kitchen were wrecked and Mrs Price’s property nearby caught fire briefly. Insurance covered the dwelling with Fire Association of Philadelphia and barn with British America Insurance Company of Toronto.
A city business on Third Street reports owner Joe Whitten missing after a morning closure. Affidavits allege embezzlement and serious charges loom, while the Democrat press notes Whitten is a long time Democrat and not abroad. The notice also mentions a millinery sale at Mrs Thompson’s on Wednesday to Friday.
