The Western D Handle Co quit operations in the city after four months and shipped machinery back to Muncie. Columbus Handle Co remains, praised for steady work and resisting pressure to join a trust. The interloper’s plan failed and its field in Columbus is now empty.

A large Florida coast expedition cleared for Cuba from New River inlet carrying arms and men. Captain B W Johnson of the Williams is believed linked to the filibustering venture. A government agent found 75 tons of coal at Lignum Vitae Key likely for filibusters. The Delta steamer is under Key West customs control.

Hagestown Indiana May 21 Last Sunday six men placed dynamite in West River on land owned by John Geisler and John Copeland. The blast killed and stunned thousands of fish along the banks and vast numbers were left to die. The violators are identified.
