Local items report candidates for county offices and several sales including George Werner selling hogs on Saturday at Maple Grove. Also notes on theatre, street work, renovations, and visits among residents with brief references to diphtheria cases near Columbus and upcoming county fair attendance.
Manney and Clark, trading as the Bloomington Feather Renovating Co., have opened in Columbus at 737 Wilson St and begun work with a new process. They come with a strong reputation for feather cleaning and restoration, attracting local patrons and friends of Mr. Noble Ellis.
The Daisy Club executive committee elected officers: President Karl Volland, Vice President Clarence McCullough, Treasurer Roy M. Jackson, Secretary Mayme McCullough. The note also thanks Mrs. Amanda J. Brown’s family for support during illness and death.

The government issued crop bulletin notes warm days and cool nights across Indiana with rain needed in most counties. Corn and apples show stress, early potatoes small, late crop promising but damaged by bugs. Grapes rot, cabbage worm damage persists, oats stored, tobacco promising, gardens late, general weather unfavorable to growing crops. Local items report Lambert’s woods picnic, Johnnie Seegar buys Eg Moyer restaurant, Grant Perry’s improvement, and rising Star circulation.
The Big Four will sell excursion tickets to Cincinnati Ohio at one fare for the round trip. Tickets good for return until Aug 23. Agent J. Smitn announces the sale on Saturday Aug 21.
Marriage licenses issued yesterday to Elmer Stewart of Rugby and Annie Barrett daughter of late Dr Barrett. Barrett relative to city auditor I B Barrett. Stewart noted as a successful farmer and stockraiser near Rugby.
