W W Lambert of Bartholomew county announces his candidacy for Joint Senator from the Bartholomew and Decatur district subject to the will of the Republican convention.
Fred C. Ulrich and James Burke announce county clerk candidacy subject to Republican nomination. Will F. Barrett seeks circuit court clerk post under Republican nominating convention. Convention scheduled June 4 1598.
Henry W. Rethwischa announces his candidacy for county treasurer subject to the Republican nominating convention. W. F. Coats is also announced as a candidate for county treasurer under the same convention. William Steinkamp of Jackson township is named as a candidate for county treasurer subject to the Republican nominating convention.
County notices announce Albert Fowens as a recorder candidate pending Republican nomination. Rk. B. Colvin of Hewcreek township and E. M. Heiner of Wayne township are also named for Recorder of Bartholomew County subject to Republican convention decisions.

County official Louis Friedersporf of Rockcreek township announces his candidacy for county commissioner in the Third District subject to the Republican nominating convention. Henry C. Harris of German township declares for county commissioner in the First District subject to the Republican county convention.

A circuit two fault plunged the city into partial darkness last night as linemen searched for the break in the electric light plant. The issue was located and repaired and the circuit now operates normally. Shelbyville Sons of Veterans members Wesley Hagins Wilbur M Small and Noah Tyron chose headquarters at the Commercial hotel for the encampment and plan to bring 60 members. The camp maintains a battery for use at the gathering. The city also has one first class tailor, Lienberger.
In wartime the postal system must be overhauled from end to end to meet exigencies. Letters and packages now carried on Atlantic steamers to Europe would be shipped by neutral vessels in case of war, applying to both government and private mail.

Nathan Bailey infant son of Mr and Mrs Theo Bailey died at home in Harrison township Wednesday morning from lung fever. Funeral was held today at ten oclock with burial at Mt Olive Churchyard.
