Joseph Critchfield once a bright local figure and noted temperance speaker has fallen again into drinking. He returned from Cincinnati in a deplorable intoxicated state and was found in the rain by Officer Jackson. He is now being cared for at his boarding house.
The Christian Endeavor of the Presbyterian church hosted Sunday School children from 5 to 7 PM at Rev Hood’s Franklin Street home. After 7 PM a business meeting followed and older Sunday School members were also entertained.
A man phoned the jail to say he was a deputy sheriff and asked to view prisoners in Brookville. Sheriff Cox granted access. Later Officer Jackson found the same man distraught and intoxicated or deranged, and he was jailed awaiting developments.

A two year old child of Mr and Mrs Jas McIntyre died at noon at the family home on First street. The funeral will be announced later.

J A Newton proclaims his store sells shoes cheaper than rivals by quality comparison. He asserts a ladies custom made shoe at 2.50, equal to 3.00 elsewhere, and argues business costs must be borne by the customer.
Harry Williams former Werner meat market clerk will start his own business in H. L. Rost room corner of Tenth and Mechanic opening next Saturday. He is praised as a deserving young man and the public urged to patronize him liberally.
Yesterday marked the fiftieth birth anniversary of Wi Maple Grove. Friends gathered at his home in Hutchins Ave for Halloween revels with dancing music and games. Miss Myrtle Wesiner was surprised by visitors and entertained alongside a group including Emma Volland Ethel Fulwider Lillian Volland Myrtle Whitlatch and others from the Society.
Mrs. Ab Kinnaman of an Ohio small town in Hamilton County was fatally burned this morning. Her husband, working nearby, heard the dinner bell and found her on the floor with most clothing burned from her body and unconscious. He believes a natural gas explosion may have caused the fire.
