The Montgomery is an unprotected cruiser of 2 080 tons displacement. She cost 612 500 dollars and has a speed of 19 5 knots. She carries nine 5 inch rapid fire guns and ten smaller guns.
A. Maurice Low reports from Key West that the cruiser Montgomery was ordered back to Key West from Havana harbor following Gen. Lee’s warning that its presence risked dangerous rumors and insufficient protection amid rising tensions. Lee recommended replacing the Montgomery with the Fern or a similar vessel to demonstrate naval power without undue risk.
On Tuesday night March 22 Columbus Indiana hosts a major Modern Woodman event. Fifty candidates will join ceremonies and mysteries, with Oak Leaf Camp as honored guests to institute degree work. The camp, a leading unit in the state, will receive visitors from across the jurisdiction and depart by 5337 p.m. train.

Grace Rapp visited Shelbyville for a few days. Thomas Ardery of Clifty township conducted city business. Mrs. T. A. Garretson to spend Sunday with friends at Elizabethtown. Wm. Williams of Hope in town. Charley Clancy returned to Indianapolis. Dr. Wisner came back from Henryville. A middle aged woman or good girl is needed for general housework at 1404 Mechanic 7 street.
John M Dickey and Rosa Bell Carnes wed Thursday evening at Squire McWilliams residence in Burnsville. Charles Potter may run for councilman in the Fifth ward as a Republican candidate if nominated. Willis Waters of Elizabethtown expects a large strawberry crop this season. Fred Moore of Clifford and George Carpenter of Elizabethtown were in town. Mrs. Hunter, mother of Mrs. Will Mooney, visited from Indianapolis.
