Reports from Kingston via Sun day June 19 describe the brutal bombardment of Santiago harbor by American gunners. Destruction wrecks fortifications, Morro castle’s flag half masted, and Spanish troops shown as demoralized but resolute under heavy fire. Seventeen prisoners taken at Guantanamo. Hobson and his men presumed alive.
An old style ad claims Dr. Davis' Anti Headache will relieve headaches in 15 minutes. The product is advertised as available at all druggists.
A ten pound girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Allrey on Sunday with mother and baby doing well. The column lists charity totals for Trustee Jewell’s statement and a variety of local happenings from court visits and church meetings to real estate chatter, aquaintances in town, and a sale ad for J A Newton’s One Price Shoe Store.
The Red Men of Columbus held memorial services for Nat Stader with a parade to the city cemetery attended by about 100 members from Kokosing Tribe 189 Taylorsville and others. Walter Neible delivered the memorial address and Kokosing Tribe declared the first Sunday in June as memorial day. Funeral for Joseph Wooley was well attended, with many praising his upright life and integrity in Columbus.
