Ezra Storey of this city reports Rose Story alias Hawser, once Nose Brook Cummins of Columbus, Ind., as his wife. He says she was married thirteen years ago by Elder J. B. Cobb and bore two sons. She remained in Fort Wayne during the man’s funeral, then burned letters and left. Storey plans to seek a divorce and place her in reform school.

Fire victims recovered from Alvord house ruins

In Gloversville N Y six bodies were taken from the Alvord house fire ruins. Henry C Day Benjamin F Strickland and Bell Boy Charles Ruppert were found this morning followed by E F Kimball his wife and daughter of Indianapolis. Mrs Kimball's trunk and the daughter's charred remains were located. only Mr Kimball was identifiable.

Marriage lie ruses and concert notes in Jeffersonville

A Madison Black man Charles Guess died suddenly and was found with a paper claiming he and Rose Hawser wed in Cementyile with witnesses Anna Niutzel and Meyers. the paper named Rev Seofleid as the officiant and claimed a licence was issued in Jefferson or Floyd counties. Multiple social notes follow including visits and a Sons of Veterans muster with seventy five members.

West Bend Youth Dies After Boxing Bout

In West Bend Wisconsin on February 2 a glove contest between Carl Lindback and Willie Grants ended tragically when Lindback collapsed and died in the fourth round. Lindback, son of Albert Lindback, manager of the local cooperative creamery, and Grants, son of a prominent town citizen, sparked unfriendly tensions before the fatal bout.

Pennsylvania tests combined smoking and passenger cars

State railways began experimental use of cars that mix smoking and riding passengers between Logansport and Louisville and Indianapolis and Columbus. Conductors will tally passenger counts per compartment and track smokers in the smoking area to see if smoking sections can be reduced to free space for non smoking riders.
