The wedding of Frank Carman and Stella Smith took place at the bride’s home on Fourth and Chestnut streets with Rev Sigmund officiating. The couple plan to reside on Jonathan Smith’s farm near the city and start their new life together.
Rev Henninger and Rev Curtiss lead a revival at the Crothersville M E church with good attendance and growing interest each evening. Mrs M E Griffin and daughter Mrs Ida Crabb returned from Columbus. Crabb is in poor health. Mrs Ward Salmond, long ill, showed some improvement this morning. For Genuine Buckwheat flour call on Hanry Mier 38315.
Frank and Jake Harding face a lawsuit over notes filed for trial at the next circuit term. Columbus reports include Dan Smith, Jasper Coffey returning from lessons, Mrs. Thompson sent to hospital, and Arthur Moore resigning the mail hack job. Local incidents cover a hand to hand fight on Schooner creek, a fire alarm wire repair, Salvation Army disturbances, and a stray market note on buckwheat flour.
Miss Nettie Bouillie was surprised by friends at her Brown Street home marking her eleventh birthday with games and light refreshments. Guests included Nellie Fahy Florence Pruitt Alma Habig Mattie Bouillie Nettia Bouillie Ethel Pruitt Sarah Bontinger Lizzie Vancy Mary Gaiss Francis Fahy Lulu Schwartzkopf Florence Habig and other society members.
A large birthday gathering for John Weinland, age sevente en on West Jackson Street, featured games and socializing at the Weinland home. Guests included numerous local young people and adults, with elegant refreshments and warm well-wishes noted in the Hope Record.

A noon fire gutted the Sterling Remedy Company plant in Attica destroying thousands of dollars’ worth of goods awaiting shipment. Loss estimated at 50000 with 5000 insurance. About 150 employees helped save some property. Manager Kramer arranged with Leiffy Buggy for temporary space. fire started in storage from a defective flue. A new building and an opera house are planned for Attica.
The Omaha Bee scolds Mr. Bryan for not pushing arbitration injunction anti trust or other laws during his four years in Congress. The paper argues he is a larger statesman beyond the Congressional field and cites long Biblical reading.
Ira Giltner Will Dodge and Al White passed the civil service examination held in this city. These three are deemed eligible for the next vacancy and receive congratulations from The Star for their success.
Mrs. Jacob Norton arrives from Flatrock this morning while Mrs. Holst returns from a visit with Indianapolis friends. Several others travel or visit Columbus North Vernon Auburn and Brazil during the day. Merchants advertise Kindling and wood coal with prices and medical patent remedies and children’s footwear for sale.
The male chorus will meet tonight at 8 at the marshal s office and the ladies meet Saturday at 7 at the same place. Books for the entertainment arrived this morning and the show will be at the theatre soon. Proceeds benefit the G A R.
The nineteenth annual report to the governor shows 649 children in the Knightstown home with 163 more applications. Trustees seek gymnasiums, playhouses, and an iron front fence as the facility is too small. Only three deaths occurred last year. Marion County hosts 55 residents. Judge Black and the G A R committee aid the home’s efforts to place children in suitable homes and teach trades.
City council met with Mayor Beck presiding. Treasurer reports November balance 22 466 05. Health secretary notes births nine deaths fifteen diphtheria six scarlet fever six one death from diphtheria. Street and cemetery receipts and disbursements listed. Bills totaling 2503 95 approved. Adjourned after routine business.

The article notes a 2 year paper acceptance exception and states the offender may be killed on sight without relief from valuation laws and buried face downward.
