President, aides fail to bag deer at Saranac Inn hunt
In Saranac Inn New York September 9 the president and a small party including Dave Cronk guide Col Belo William Quincy Riddle and John Jardine set out with a dozen aids and dogs for a deer hunt. Rain earlier forced rubber overcoats but the party returned empty handed after a morning of stations on nearby ponds.

Tragedy at a dance near Summerville Missouri
A fatal shooting occurred at a Summerville area farmhouse during a dance. Jerre Orchard fired at Riley Martin, wounding him fatally.
