In Baltimore on April 6 Charles M Owens Tesat Waters John Brandan John B Sanner and Wm J Byrne judges and clerks of election in the first ward were convicted in the criminal court today of conspiring to defraud at the last municipal election. Notice of appeal was entered. If the verdict stands the penalty is two years imprisonment. The accused were charged with sitting ballots in the box and recording nonvoters in the poll book.

Five Negroes Hanged by Lynching Mob in Yorkville
News from Yorkville reports at 4 AM a mob of about sixty to seventy five men forced the Yorkville jail, seized Giles Good Bailey Bawdle Prendley Thompson and Mose Lipscomb, who were charged with killing John Legood, and hanged them from trees. The six prisoners had been brought from Columbia for trial after being seized. The mob demanded jail keys from Sheriff Glenn, battered doors, and carried out the executions before a trial could occur.
