Mayme E. McCullough opened with The Passing of a Century, eight minutes of ornate prose praising 1800s progress. Lewis Clark Sims followed with Life The Old Old Story, a meditation on life’s stages from childhood to old age and the constant human quest.

Local items blend rain praise and civic notices

Rain lifts spirits as farmers praise Monday precipitation aiding crops. Ira J. Smith returns north to negotiate for a new flying machine. Cemetery decorations by K P and Red Men draw largest crowds. Dr Heiskel of Indianapolis and M L Lambert speak with the Edinburg band providing music. M E church social at the opera house successful socially but not financially. Clergy exempted from highway duty debated after a Tuesday morning labor scene. K of Tuesday night social well attended with about 150 enjoying berries ice cream and cake. Miss Carrie Overmyer visits from Indianapolis and decorates a grave in town before returning home.
