Mon day elections in Indiana 92 counties chose or failed to choose county superintendents with Republicans favored in many townships but mixed results left several offices held by incumbents. Reports from John son Shelby and Terre Haute show tied or indecisive ballots with some counties likely to hold over trustees and candidates amid party division.
Curry protests quorum after five Democrats and one Republican backed Curry. Huntwork oppose. Hancock County elects Capt Lee O Harris county superintendent with five Republican votes and Democrats backing incumbent Quitman Jackson. Sauem County chooses Professor Sylvester H Wall as first Republican county superintendent by an 8 to 5 vote amid lengthy caucus nomination.
In Wanasa Ind on June 7 Professor John N. Myers secured the county superintendent post after a long contest. Freeman of Urbana and Long of Lagro were candidates. Myers gained decisive support on the 31st ballot when Trustee Stout shifted to him. In Hantrorp City the Democratic trustees failed to attend the election. Republicans lack a quorum and plan mandamus actions. a tie could be decided by the auditor with Democrats hoping the incumbent remains.
Sixty eight ballots were needed to elect a new county school superintendent after the resignation of John O. Lewellan after fourteen years. Charles Van Matre of Daleville was chosen, with Oscar Driscoll as the next-closest candidate and Ozcar Pittenger John Rader and Samuel Morris as others in the field.
Winchester Indiana June 7 Charles W Paris of Farmland chosen county superintendent on the twelfth ballot to succeed John W Denny after ten years. Four other candidates competed Henry Peacock Professor Addleman Daniel Lawrence and O A White.
In Nossesville Ellis A. Hutchins is elected to a seventh term on the seventh ballot amid scattered opposition. In Devout Isaac F. Meyers wins on the twentieth ballot after a partisan contest. In Port Ann Tad the trustees fail to elect after 75 ballots. In Bloomington James King is chosen on the fourth ballot as the first Republican in twelve years, a IU graduate praised as an excellent selection.
Jesse Neat, a Rockville educator and Terre Haute Normal alum, was chosen county superintendent of Parke County today. He won nine votes out of thirteen on the first ballot amid seven candidates. Neat is an experienced teacher and Republican central committee member.

Greencastle Ind June 7 The Putnam county township trustees elected Samuel A Harris as county superintendent at 9 o clock tonight on the seventy ninth vote Harris a Democrat received eight Democratic votes Republicans cast six votes for E T Lane
Co umora City Indiana June 7 Buro Clapham a Republican was elected county superintendent to succeed Democrat G M Naber. Clapham is an experienced educator and will maintain a high standard in the Whitley County public schools.
Connersville Indiana June 7 the Fayette township trustees election concludes after seventy six ballots with Calvin Ochiltree defeating Professor J F Clifford and W H Glidwell the incumbent and a Democrat.
Newport Indiana June 7 on the twenty sixth ballot Professor FE E Helt a Perrysville schools teacher was elected county superintendent by township trustees. He is a Republican and will succeed Democrat John R Stahl.
W. H. Chillson wins the initial ballot as a gold standard Democrat. The contest divides Chillson supporters and James Rawley backers while five Republicans abstain with a Chillson vote.
Township trustees of Lawrence county met in this city and elected Professor W. E. Stipp of Mitchell county superintendent. Stipp is a prominent educator and lawyer.
In Daxville Indiana on June 7 James D Hostetter Republican won the county superintendent post unanimously on the third ballot with eleven Republican and one Democratic trustee voting.
Reports from Indiana list Henry E. Coe E.S. Thornburg A. C. Huff and Logan Esarey elected county superintendents to succeed long serving or retiring officials. Western League scores include Milwaukee Indianapolis Grand Rapids Minneapolis and others. Wisconsin court approves Ber Wilkie admission to Madison county bar in Elwood Indiana.
James F. Saunders was appointed receiver for the Courier Company this afternoon. Two Democratic factions contend for control of the property in Evansville Indiana.
