A switch engine backed into a moving Atlanta bound passenger train near the Southern railway yards killing three first class passengers and injuring sixteen. Yard conductor C B Dunton was arrested on suspicion of causing the wreck. The wreck halted near the shops as officials rushed to the scene and recovered the dead to Atlanta. The father of a victim later accompanied bodies from McDonough.
