American Fleet Bombards Santiago Harbor Fortifications

Reports from Havana and London detail an intense engagement at Santiago de Cuba beginning around 2 PM with 14 American warships led by Admiral Sampson firing on Morro Castle La Zecapa and Punta Gorda. The cannonade continued to about 4 PM with Spanish forces silent on casualties as both fleets exchange heavy fire.
